Different computer - sound doesn't work on it. I hear the default windows noises, but, iTunes, windows media, firefox - el zilcho for sound.
iTunes gave me a hint though.
When I tried to start it, it said 'your audio/video configuration is not working properly, playback may be affected'. etc etc.
I have a feeling it may be codec problems.

What OS is the computer running?
Does it rely on built in speakers or plug in?
It's probably a config error. Which is understandable if its older. Give me that info and I might be able to help.

Ok. Go to the start menu. Move the mouse cursor over the "My Computer" section. LEFT click on it, go down to manage. It should open up your "Computer Mangament" console. Go to Device Manager section and click on it. Look under the "Sound, Video, and Game Controllers" section and click the tab. Things should pop up under that section. Look for a Red "X" or a Yellow "!". Tell me what you see.

Audio Codecs, Legacy Audio Drivers, Legacy Video Capture Devices, Media Control Devices, SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio, USB Audio Device, Video Codecs.

Alright. You have a sound card. That's good.
Next. Are your speakers working? Have you tried swapping them out for headphones to see if they work?
If you have, and still doesn't work. Go to control panel. Go to the Sound icon and click on it. In the playback tab, list the devices that your computer is working with. The one at top should be the one you are using, it should say working with a green check mark next to it.
