Kaizer is quitting the RP because I asked him not to god mod Umial. He went on and said she's just a generic NPC, but he's angry enough to be cursing me out and saying some really awful things about me. Needless to say, if this is how he's going to act, his quitting doesn't bother me at all. We won't kill his characters, but I'm going to deal with them in another way.

For the record, she's not a generic NPC at all. She was created way back when the RP started. Print the RP and ctrl+f her, you'll find the name.

I don't have to, nor does anyone else have to, create a character sheet for an NPC. They are assumed your characters.

And while I thought this was common knowledge and part of the rules regarding god modding and respect, here's a rule to make sure things are clear from now on.

11: You as a player are under no circumstances allowed to control another player's NPC without his express permission first. Period. NPCs made up by another player are an extension of their characters and any unwanted action upon them is considered god-modding.

Edit: Kaizer wanted his post deleted. I reported it, but no mod has gotten rid of it yet, so I guess it's staying there. To everyone--just ignore it. It'll be retconned when I post sometime. In the meantime, keep posting as normal, as though nothing ever happened. Cause I'm not sacrificing her dracon beam because VK's mad about how I GM. That would get her into way too much trouble (see book 19 for proof).

Sorry, I had seen you reporting something, but when I checked my email, it wasn't there and wasn't sure if you had changed your mind or if there was something wrong with the reporting system. Turned out I'd created a sorting filter and completely forgotten about it. =/

According to the board's assumed definition of NPCs, they tend to be characters that anyone can control. While GMs can specify an NPC can't be controlled, it's understood that they are the exception, not the rule. Sounds, to me, like it was a big misunderstanding that wasn't handled the best.

You might want to review the Rules & Etiquette thread to see if  there are any other assumptions that differ from the way you like to run things so you can include rules to avoid future misunderstandings.

As for controlling NPCs, I have an OOC note earlier in the RP that clearly stated that I didn't want NPCs being controlled without my permission anymore, so this shouldn't have been something new...

It really was a big misunderstanding. It's not like I was attacking Kaizer. I asked him to edit, and he's the one who cursed me out. For once, I did nothing wrong.

He just did tend to do weird things, like randomly bring back old characters that were written out of the RP. I usually don't ask for an edit unless it's something Airdra and I both agree with since we run the RP together.

He's the only one that's continuing it. I don't hate him or anything, but he's made it pretty clear that he hates me, especially with the way he cursed me out using quite a few swear words that aren't in common use.

I'll keep the exception thing in mind in the future. Maybe it's just because I've never had a problem with it before that I didn't make a rule for it from the get go. I run a lot of RPs, and I've never seen someone take control of another person's NPC like that before. It would be like me going and having his character's grandpa randomly get stabbed or something. You just.. don't do it. Not without asking. =/

I looked through the RP because I thought I recalled you wanting a post deleted before which was never gotten around to (I think I got them all), and didn't notice anything to that effect. Maybe you said it in a different RP?

Well, I can't say I've been in RPs like the ones you run. The RPs I've been in, NPCs are either shared between the players equally or are the only characters the GM controls. When RPing with my best friend, we "bunny" each other's characters so much we didn't understand the term when we first came across it. I've even been in an RP where it was acceptable when one of my PCs was killed by another player without my permission. There's a lot of different ways people RP, so it's helpful to know what expectations are.

Anyway, I run RPs differently than most people I guess, but I've never had a problem with this before, so I guess I didn't expect to be cursed out for asking for an edit.

It's really, really, really unfortunate that it had to happen this way instead of talking things out civilly. I'm not happy it happened this way at all. If I could take it all back and find another way to ask for the edit that wouldn't have ended this way, I would. He could have spoken to Airdra, too. She would have at least backed it up and proven it wasn't just me being a controlling bitch, like he thinks I am...
